Hey, I'm Saurya
Designing complex systems,
from first principles
Computer Engineering student focused on backend systems, distributed architectures, and AI infrastructure.
Exploring how intelligent systems reason, scale, and fail.
Featured Work
Zimma
Founder · Voice-native computer-use agent
An always-on AI employee for India. Speaks Hinglish, operates real websites, and finishes real tasks — handing over control only when blocked.
Complex
Distributed trading simulation
FastAPI, Redis, and Celery microservices serving 300+ concurrent traders at 15-second market ticks. Dead-letter queues and adaptive retries after debugging a silent-backpressure incident.
Saturnalia
Tech fest platform · 3,000+ users
Node.js and Express microservices on Firebase with JWT auth and payments. Companion BLE mobile app used by 1,500+ attendees.
I build systems, then I try to understand how they fail.
I'm a Computer Engineering student at Thapar Institute, and the founder of openfolie, a student-led software collective. We're building Zimma — a voice-native computer-use agent that speaks Hinglish and operates real websites on your behalf.
The through-line in everything I make: systems that stay honest under load. I've shipped backends serving thousands of concurrent users, debugged production incidents with no signals to point at, and built things from scratch — a neural network in Go, a RAG pipeline, a trading engine — because I want to understand the layer below before I trust the layer above.
I like problems that are messy and slightly underdefined, where you have to model the system before you can solve it. Right now that means agents that don't just answer — they act.

Experience

Co-Founder
openfolie. · Part-time
Apr 2026 — Present
- Building an AI-native interaction platform combining voice, computer use, and autonomous background agents to operate digital services on behalf of users. I lead product and systems engineering across agent architecture, interaction design, memory, evaluation, and infrastructure.
- Architected a decoupled agent system separating low-latency conversational interaction from asynchronous autonomous execution, enabling background agents to perform browser control, research, planning, and multi-step tasks without blocking the user experience.
- Building the platform around persistent user context, shared agent state, computer-use tooling, and India-first voice interaction including Hinglish and code-switching.

Systems Engineer
PLEX — The Product Managers' Club · Apprenticeship
Jan 2026 — Present
- Designed a campus-wide bicycle sharing platform enabling students to unlock and return bicycles through a mobile app, with autonomous operation and real-time fleet monitoring.
- Architected an end-to-end distributed system spanning ESP32 bicycle nodes, ESP-NOW communication, 4G/MQTT router nodes, Go real-time services, Hono/TypeScript APIs, Redis, PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB, and a Flutter mobile application.
- Designed for unreliable connectivity and hardware failures using local bicycle state, offline event logs, cryptographically authenticated commands, asynchronous state synchronization, and server-side ride reconciliation; built observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.

AI Infrastructure & DevOps Intern
Centre of Excellence | Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (TIET–UQ) · Internship · Hybrid
Oct 2025 — Present
- Engineer cloud-native infrastructure for AI-powered medical imaging as part of the TIET–University of Queensland collaboration, across medical imaging, AI inference, and distributed cloud infrastructure.
- Integrated PACS, DICOMWeb, and Mercure into event-driven imaging workflows and deployed containerized NVIDIA MONAI inference pipelines on AWS for AI-assisted medical image processing.
- Built Docker-based deployment and CI/CD infrastructure to make imaging services reproducible across local and cloud environments.

Core Technical Team
Saturnalia TIET · Full-time · On-site
Sep 2025 — Dec 2025
- Built the primary backend architecture using Firebase, Express, and Docker, handling 3,000+ requests with secure payment processing.
- Worked on the official Saturnalia website to support 3,000+ users during peak event traffic.
- Architected, developed, and scaled Mirage, an AR/VR-based treasure hunt with 1,900+ concurrent users.

Executive Committee — Technical Operations
Helix TIET
Mar 2026 — Apr 2026
- Lead backend and infrastructure engineering for Helix's technical systems, building real-time applications and AI-powered workflows used in large-scale student events and competitions.
- Architected and operated PLEX, a live market simulation supporting 100+ concurrent players with 15-second market ticks, WebSockets, Redis Pub/Sub, asynchronous workers, and LLM-based strategy evaluation.
- Led live incident response when upstream LLM rate limits created hidden backpressure — diagnosed the failure mode and stabilized the system with dead-letter queues, adaptive retries, and decoupled task execution.

Core Member
Creative Computing Society
Jun 2025 — Apr 2026
- Contributed to open-source software and engineering projects within Thapar's student computing community, across backend development, systems engineering, and applied machine learning.
- Led projects and competed in hackathons resulting in multiple wins, including 1st place at IEEE BIOS Hackathon 2025 and 2nd place at SabkaAI Hackathon (India AI Impact Summit 2026).
